2019: The Year In Review
We’re in a month of resolutions, fresh starts, and hope for a new year. It’s a time where many of us stop to reevaluate how we’re living our lives and resolve to change and grow. We’re excited to celebrate the start of this new season and share our plans for 2020, but even more than that, we’re thrilled to be looking back on the incredible things God did in the very first year of Child Freedom Coalition.
This past year was one of growth, challenge, and anticipation. It humbled us greatly, tested our definition of faith, solidified the bond between our staff, and brought us an even greater love for the rescued children in India.
2019 showed us that God’s plans are much greater than ours, that we could never do this work without Him, and that trusting Him when things are uncertain is always the right choice.
OUR FOUNDING YEAR
In 2019, we grew from one office in Greenville, SC to a second office in Houston, Texas. We sent teams to India in the spring and fall who checked in on the work being done at the children’s home and even included our friends at Let People See in the fall. While there, Let People See documented the progress there through videography. In the fall, we launched a new way to give, the Child Freedom Shop For Good, which made it possible for donors to buy items for the children in India.
ENDING CHILD SLAVERY ONE STEP AT A TIME
Our first ever Child Freedom 5k raised over $20,000 through the hard work of more than 200 total participants. We were blessed to build relationships with friends who have joined the fight to end slavery and saw donors give generously and sacrificially to change the lives of the rescued children.
PROGRESS AT THE JIM FRITH VOCATIONAL TRAINING CENTER
We rejoiced in the progress that was made to begin the long awaited Jim Frith Vocational Training Center and the legacy that it is creating. This legacy of hope will give hundreds and thousands of young women who were once slaves the change to own their futures. We were inspired by donors using the things the have, like art, food, sports, coffee, and even just their voice, to change the rescued children’s lives.
We saw children who were once timid and terrified learn to play, joke, and have fun. We heard the excitement of children who were learning to read and write for the first time, watched hundreds of young adults graduate from vocational training, and we saw hope grow like never before.
WE ARE THANKFUL
Thanks to all of our incredible donors, 2019 was a year to remember. They chose to partner with what God is doing in India, and they made a difference. Because of them, over 1,200 children who were once slaved lived full lives this year. They thrived in school, played with their friends, received spiritual healing, and learned how deeply God loves them.
Thank you for an amazing year.
With Love,
The Child Freedom Coalition Team
