Cultivating Community
EMPOWERING COMMUNITY THROUGH BUSINESS
In 2012, Chris Brank was a youth pastor making funny videos for camps. He dreamed of building a community of people in the video production world who would not only be excellent, but would make a difference in the lives of others. Now, eight years later, he and his wife, Corine, own and operate Let People See, a well established event video production company that’s making awesome videos and helping grow communities all over the globe.
Empowering nonprofits has been at the core of LPS from the beginning - even before day one!
Chris and Corine have always worked to ensure that their team makes an impact in ways that would long outlast Let People See. They have certainly done that through partnerships with many nonprofits including Child Freedom Coalition.
In our first year of Child Freedom Coalition, the team at Let People See has made an immeasurable impact in the lives of the rescued children. They’ve welcomed our Greenville team into their office, prayed with us in difficult times, sponsored our inaugural Child Freedom 5k, and taken time off to travel to South Asia and collect footage of the children. They’ve helped strengthen our community of rescued children in India by letting people see them and raising support, and they’ve also strengthened the community within our team.
We’ve been changed by partnerships with businesses like Let People See, but Chris says that they’ve found joy in giving.
“Personally, I believe Jesus loves, cares for, and provides for every single one of the rescued children. It’s a joy for Him to care for them, but He doesn’t keep that joy all to Himself. He invites us all to join in the adventure! So I’ve jumped in. I’ve seen the impact CFC is making in person. I want more people to join in because I believe it’s better to give than to receive. Great joy can be found in giving and providing for these children.”
It all starts with your community.
It starts with the person in front of you - your family, your friends, and your coworkers. “Pray for God to expand your influence and impact for him,” Chris said. “Then begin to look and ask for opportunities and connections throughout the world through your family, friends, and co-workers... It’s incredible to think we can have a direct impact on orphans on the other side of the world. I’ve seen it first hand, and I want our employees to be part of something creating long-lasting significance.”
EFFECTS OF COVID-19 IN SOUTH ASIA
The world is fully tuned-in to the COVID-19 crisis - and rightfully so. It’s an outbreak like we’ve never seen before, and we’re all working overtime to protect our families from its effects.
While we are certainly feeling the effects of the virus here in America, some of the world’s most vulnerable are facing hardship as well.
Thankfully no children have tested positive for COVID-19 at The Sylom Children’s Home, however, we’re still facing some big problems. In South Asia, the markets have shut down, and the price of food skyrocketed in response to the pandemic. This exploitation from food providers has caused feeding the rescued children to be more difficult and expensive than ever.
Bags of rice that once cost $20 now cost upwards of $100.
These challenges we face make it easy to feel defeated, but they also remind us that we are not in this on our own. We have hope, and His name is Jesus. In this time of great need all around the world, we believe that He has fully and completely equipped his body to care for those in need.
Gary and Cindy Landry of Richmond, Texas are one family who has chosen to get creative and generous in helping the rescued children during the COVID-19 pandemic. When they heard they would be receiving a check from the Stimulus Package, they reached out to us right away. “We’ve been so fortunate during this time and haven’t been heavily affected by the virus,” Gary told us. “When we saw that we would be getting a check from the government, we realized that we didn’t really need it. We decided the best use of this blessing is to give it to the rescued children because they are in such great need right now.”
The Landrys made us think, ‘what if there are other people like them who are able to help?’
The more we started thinking about it, the more we realized that this was an incredible opportunity for generosity. If you are like the Landrys and have found yourself financially fortunate in the COVID-19 pandemic, join the #StimulusChallenge. Please consider giving all or a portion of your Stimulus check to help feed the rescued children.
